The Art of Dying and COVID-19

Even as modern medicine prolonged countless lives, it has hidden the dying from our view and created the illusion that death is an optional part of life. The COVID-19 pandemic calls our attention to the largely forgotten question of how to prepare ourselves and our loved ones to die well. Join us for a discussion of this question with Dr. Lydia Dugdale and Fr. Kevin Joyce.

Dr. Lydia Dugdale is the director of the Center for Clinical Medical Ethics at Columbia University and the author of The Lost Art of Dying: Reviving Forgotten Wisdom. Fr. Kevin Joyce is the Catholic chaplain of Boston University and will share from his experience ministering to victims of COVID-19 at the height of the pandemic.
