Across the developed world, birth-rates are falling. For the first time in history, and despite their own flourishing and dreams of progress, nations are failing to create their own future. These trends should prompt us to ask ourselves what the purpose of children is and what role should having children play in our lives. Can we live on in the world after our death? Should we want our culture and our country to endure? Why should we have children?

Join Morningside for a day-long intellectual retreat out of the city to discuss these questions. We will read P.D.
