Reimagining Politics Post-AGI

  • The Morningside Institute 91 Claremont Avenue Floor 11 New York, NY, 10027 United States (map)

Are we about to be replaced? Some experts have predicted the rise of Artificial General Intelligence, and machines which could outperform humans at nearly every task, as soon as the end of this decade. Such a phenomenon carries with it many questions, but in this talk, we’ll focus just on one: what does this mean for human politics? Does the rise of artificial agents with above human intelligence spell the end of ruling and being ruled in turn? Is this the power which can finally keep us all in awe? Or does it open up new opportunities for us to coordinate with one another, to distribute the benefits and burdens of cooperation, or to turn our souls toward the good?

On Tuesday, November 10, at 6 PM, join us over dinner for a discussion of politics and the machine with Dr. Joan O’Bryan (Harvard).
